There are options for safe data transmission via e-mail whose secrecy cannot currently be broken even with extreme technical effort.
If you request it, we will use the well-known PGP (»Pretty Good Privacy«) encryption program by Phil Zimmermann.
PGP works with pairs of keys, one public and one private. If a file or message is encoded using a specific public key, it can be decoded only with the corresponding private key. (PGP encryption requires that the corresponding PGP encryption program be installed on your computer.)
If you want to send us a protected file, please use our public key.
If you want to receive data from us in safely encrypted form, you need to create a public and a private key with PGP and then send us the public key. (Never let anyone have your private key.)
Data are always safest when someone actually watches over them. In our office, all data and documents are usually under surveillance even at night or on weekends. Since we do not usually have visitors come to our office and since someone always keeps an eye on our computers, no trespassers can gain access to any data.
Paper documents you declare confidential are kept under lock and key and are not disposed of through the normal channels, but by shredding and incineration. Data are deleted after processing, delivery and payment if requested.
To prevent any interference with the integrity of your files, we can affix digital file signatures that meet the requirements of all applicable EU directives and national legislation.
We make daily and weekly versioned backup copies of all data on different machines (grandfather principle). Our file server and the workstations have a RAID-1 redundant storage system. In addition, all data are regularly saved on removable media. These backup copies are stored in a safe place – ad additionally off the premises.
Translations get lost in our customers’ offices, too – more frequently than you would expect. Unless you request that all documents and data are to be destroyed, we keep a copy of our work for you. Then if you need another copy of the text later, we will be able to help you.
All our computers feature state-of-the-art protection from viruses, worms and other uncouth creepies (with virus signature files being updated several times daily). To the best of our knowledge, we have never yet sent anyone a virus-infested file.
